Around 140 years before a young man from Punjab (now in Pakistan) left home for a pilgrimage in Uttarakand. Arriving here in Muni-ki-Reti in Rishikesh he made a small hut with hay on the bank of Ganges. Here lived on alms, spending fulltime in Vedantic contemplation; for many years. His name was Swami Danaraj Giri.
Slowly his scholarship and divine qualities began spreading around and seekers began to arrive at his holy feet. They could quench their spiritual thirst by drinking in the nectar of Vedantic wisdom which was emanating from him. They began to stay around him.
The divine effulgence and radiance of Shri Bhagavathy are always there for devotees to benefit from. However, the benefits, attaining them in the proper way with ease, will always be reinforced if we are directed and led by a great Guru.
Consider a bright lamp emanating brilliant dazzle all around it. Unless, the transparent glass enclosing the lamp , and the reflectors, are always kept clean, the beholder cannot appreciate/enjoy the brilliance; moreover the impurities in the beholder’s eyes can also cloud the vision. It is the Guru, who helps us to see the divine brilliance wading through all the obstructing clouds right from the beholder’s eye, till reaching the divine effulgence.
It is divine dispensation of goddess Bhagavathy and our great fortune that we have with us Swami Jitendrayanandaji, who with his intense austerities and a disciplined life dedicated to the God serves as the beacon of torch for the devotees.
Swami Jitendriyananda Saraswathy , has been inducted into the Sanyasi fold by His Holiness Guru Vidyananda Giri of Kailasashram, Rishikesh, Himalayas. Swami has also spent a brief time at Kanchipuram and was greatly inspired by his association with Kanchi Paramacharya His Holiness Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswathi Mahaswamigal.
Born in 1964, Swami Jitendriyananda has shown inclination to the spiritual life right from his early years. He has spent considerable time in Himalayas doing Tapas with intense austerities. He is a great yogi, clairvoyant and is endowed with the ability to communicate with Bhagavathy.
